Today we kick off August in style with a beautiful wedding full of spectacular details and stunning jewel tones. Natalija and Patrick created a perfectly inspired peacock wedding, from their fashion to their food their love story is dream come true. We could go on about all of the little details but we love the way the bride tells their story and we think you will too. Check it out below and a special thank you goes out to Derek Chad Photography for submitting this stunning wedding!
From the couple:
How did you two meet?
I (Natalija) am a flight attendant and was working my first trip to Dublin, Ireland on July 4, 2013. I was out touring the city by myself when I stopped in a bar, where Paddy was by himself waiting for friends to show up. We clicked right away. I was going to be there the next week as well and we made plans for him to show me around the city.
Who proposed? What was your proposal like?
Paddy is the more romantic one of us haha! We first said I love you at the band A Silent Film’s concert. A year and a half later, Paddy arranged with the band to propose at a special intimate concert they had.
Why did you choose your venue?
I live in New York City and Paddy still lives in Dublin until December when he moves to New York with me. We originally wanted a destination wedding, but due to the type of visa he has (fiance visa), we have to get married in the United States. I am originally from Orange County, CA but most of my family currently lives in Dallas, Texas. We chose San Diego because we didn’t want to get married in the winter in New York, nor in Texas. San Diego and the Prado was perfect because of its proximity to the airport and things to do for the out of town/ out of the country guests. Plus Balboa Park’s architecture is beautiful and will be ideal for pics 🙂
Are any of the details particularly special to you and why?
We are having a bit of a “peacock theme” for our wedding. The reason the peacock is kind of special goes back to prior to when we were engaged. We were in Philadelphia and happened to be walking around the jewelry district (about 5 months after we were dating). Paddy saw this tacky, ornate metal peacock in one of the displays with all the engagement rings. He said, “why do people have to get an engagement ring when they get engaged, why can’t it be an engagement Peacock!” That became our running joke about how I would always carry this peacock around to show we were engaged. We made 2 subsequent trips to Philly to see if the peacock was still on display. On the second, it was no longer there and I was disappointed. Little did I know, Paddy had already bought the peacock and 6 months later on the night we became engaged it was on my bed after we got back.
What are you looking forward to the most about your wedding day?
Being married to the perfect guy for me, and having fun with our family and friends.
