Hey beauties, you all are in for a treat today! You may have heard about a little movie called The Wizard of Oz? It may have been a staple in you house when you were little, like it was in mine? Well if that is the case and you grew up dreaming of good witches, flying moneys, and of course ruby slippers, then this Wizard of Oz Wedding will be perfect inspiration for you. Created by Grand Hotel and photographed by Paul Retherford Wedding Photography, I’m excited for you all to take a trip down the yellow brick road with me…
Mackinac Island, Michigan is a non-motorized island in Northern Michigan where the mode of transportation is horse and carriage, foot, and bicycle. It is a historic island which is clinging to it’s roots to keep living life simple and stress free. You board a ferry boat from Mackinaw City or St. Ignace to arrive on Mackinac Island. It is about a 20 minute ferry boat ride. Mackinac Island has numerous hotels, bed and breakfasts, and resorts. It is known for the fudge, varieties of lilacs, The Grand Hotel, and lots more.
Amanda met Andrew through the police office where she was a dispatcher for Andrew’s brother at a post in Illinois. They met at a party one evening. They decided on Mackinac Island because of the destination location and range of attraction for their family and friends. They had and outdoor Wedding on the Porch at the Grand Hotel and outdoor wedding reception at the Chippewa hotel on the waterfront.
The theme was a Wizard of Oz Wedding with red and canary yellow as the colors. The whole wedding was themed around the Wizard of Oz including music, signs, cake, and more. They had a hay ride for their rehearsal dinner the night prior to the Wedding.
