We that aren’t enough delightful things in the world that I could say about this Loft Meets Vintage Chic Chicago Styled shoot by MariaNicole Photography! The models in today’s shoot are actually a real life couple who have been for years but never got to experience the fanfare that comes with a formal wedding.
Vow and Knot Events and MariaNicole Photography chose the Chicago skyline a great backdrop and the City View Loft with panoramic windows and exposed brick walls is the perfect setting for this Chicago themed shoot! Read their amazing explanation below to find out why they chose to create this styled shoot.
From MariaNicole Photography:
Calling Chicago home is an easy thing to do. The restaurants, the museums, the lake; its doesn’t get any better than this. And when it comes to tying the knot in Chicago there is really one thing that could easily top any other city, our skyline. Overlooking the entire city in just a glance its easy to see why we feel so at home here.
The beautiful juxtaposition of glass and steel to cobalt sky alludes to the rich history of Chicago, and we decided the perfect venue to show off both was the beautiful City View Lofts. With panoramic windows and exposed brick walls there is a beautiful symmetry of old architecture and modern style in this space.
When designing this inspiration shoot we focused on bringing an old world charm to this urban oasis. Similar to bringing together a bride and a groom with their own styles, we wanted to bring together the feel of a urban venue with the details of a vintage affair.
We piled flowered vintage china onto gorgeous jade chargers, and to keep an intimate feel we layered hand printed tea towel menus from Lucky Invitations at each place setting. Along with the radiant florals that cascaded out of the vase and onto the table, each place setting was topped with a paper cone filled with miniature blooms to denote seating arrangements. A beautifully reclaimed wooden table from Rent Vintage Chicago filled the space, and lended a simple backdrop similar to what you would envision for a Sunday family dinner at home.
A hand painted wedding cake and custom desserts towered on tiers above our dessert bar, and sandwiched sugar cookies baked from scratch were ready to tickle senses, covered in glittering sprinkles.
Our real couple soaked up every minute of this styled shoot, as they have been married for years and never had a formal wedding. Our bride radiated in a one of a kind Edith Elan custom wedding gown. It was important to us that the dress be made here in Chicago. This gown somehow brought the whole shoot to a more intimate level.
In such a big world filled with billions of people, our bride for the day finally got to dance a first dance with her husband in a gown made by a woman who lives just blocks away from their apartment. Making weddings is so very personal to us here at Vow & Knot Events, and Maria Nicole Photography.
Whether it’s the smallest of details, or the grandest of displays we feel that your wedding should be a representation of who you are as a couple. In a city filled with possibilities, we’re so glad to call this our sweet home Chicago.
